Meet Clay Murfet
Originally from Tasmania, Australia, Clay Murfet brings over 12 years of experience as a professional athlete to Clay Murfet Performance. At 17, he moved to the United States to pursue a professional cycling career under the guidance of a U.S. Olympian coach. His career would go on to take him across the United States, Europe, Canada, and China, competing at a high level and developing a deep understanding of elite performance, recovery, and the demands placed on the athlete’s body.
In 2017, Clay became a licensed massage therapist and founded Clay Murfet Performance in 2018 — combining his firsthand experience as a professional athlete with performance-focused treatment, recovery, and coaching.
Over the course of his career, Clay has performed more than 10,000 treatments and worked with athletes ranging from everyday runners and gym-goers to professional and collegiate athletes within the NFL, NBA, MLB, and NCAA systems in the United States. His hands-on experience in elite sport allows him to deliver treatment with a level of understanding that goes beyond standard massage therapy.
Today, Clay continues to compete as an endurance athlete and marathon runner, holding a marathon personal best of 2:49 and a Boston Marathon qualification. Remaining actively involved in high-level training allows his approach to stay practical, current, and grounded in real-world athletic performance.
Known for his results-driven approach, Clay has built a strong reputation for helping athletes improve recovery, manage training load, reduce injury downtime, and continue performing at a high level. His understanding of movement, performance, and recovery allows him to deliver highly targeted treatment tailored to the individual athlete.
Now based in Noosa, Australia, Clay continues to grow CMP as a bridge between elite sport and everyday performance — helping athletes move better, recover faster, and perform at their highest level.
